Mobile Bartending FAQ
Answers to the most common questions about mobile bartending in Houston.
Houston mobile bartending runs $35–$65 per guest for a full turnkey open bar (bartender supplies all alcohol), or $400–$2,800 flat for bartender + setup when you supply alcohol (BYOB). Hourly staffing-only is $75–$200 per bartender with a 4-hour minimum. Most Houston weddings and corporate events book 2 bartenders per 100 guests.
Yes — TABC certification is required by Texas law for anyone serving alcohol, even at private parties on residential property. Every bartender we staff carries active TABC certification. Always verify certification with any bartender before booking.
The Houston industry standard is one bartender per 75 guests for a full bar, or one per 50 guests for beer/wine only. For a 100-guest wedding, we staff two bartenders to keep wait times under 5 minutes. For 200+ guest corporate events, we add a third bartender and a barback.
BYOB-alcohol means you purchase liquor, beer, and wine from a retailer, and the bartender supplies labor, mixers, glassware, and bar setup (typically $1,200–$2,800 flat for 2 bartenders). Turnkey means the bartender supplies everything including alcohol (typically $35–$65 per guest). BYOB is usually cheaper for events over 100 guests.
Private events on private property (your home, a rented private venue with a closed guest list) do not require a TABC permit — just TABC-certified servers. Public-facing events selling alcohol to attendees (festivals, pop-ups, ticketed events) require a TABC temporary permit ($25–$50/day, 7–10 day lead time).
Yes. Private parties on private residential property are exempt from TABC on-premise licensing requirements — you can legally host a bartender-served party at your home. Our bartenders are TABC-certified and follow responsible-service protocols. One bartender + portable bar starts at $400 flat for a 4-hour party.
The top Houston wedding and event signatures are: spicy jalapeño margaritas (#1), bourbon-pecan old fashioneds with Texas bourbon (Garrison Brothers or Treaty Oak), Paloma variations with Tajín rims, St. Germain elderflower spritzes, and Thai basil gimlets. Signature cocktails are included free with all wedding and corporate packages.
Peak Houston event season is October–April (avoiding summer heat). Saturday nights during peak season book 8–12 months ahead for weddings. Friday and Sunday events have more availability. Book within 2 weeks of booking your venue — the best Houston bartenders schedule fast.
Yes. We carry $2M general liability insurance and provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming your venue as additional insured within 24 hours of booking. Major Houston corporate venues (Hilton Americas, Marriott Marquis, George R. Brown Convention Center, The Astorian) require $1–2M coverage — we meet or exceed all of them.
We serve the full Houston metro including downtown, Heights, Montrose, River Oaks, Memorial, Galleria, Energy Corridor, The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, Katy, Cypress, Sugar Land, Pearland, Clear Lake, and Galveston. Travel fees may apply for venues 30+ miles outside the city center.
